Adventures with Uncle Chris

There was no one else in my life who ever came to being anything like Uncle Chris, he meant the world to everyone, for many different reasons but to me he was someone who inspired me (and not just because of his expensive taste!).

When I look back at some of my adventures I shared with Uncle Chris I can't quite put into words how special they are. One of my first memories would be going shopping in Diss with both him and Auntie Rosemary and them buying me and my sister (Katie) all the toys for our new play house- this included a play kitchen, toaster, kettle and also some plastic chairs and a table. This then led to many happy afternoons being spent in the play house. Another memory with Uncle Chris would be going to see Diversity- he was so amazed by this, a man who has seen every West End show possible was left speechless by break dancing!!! The first time I had Ben and Jerry's ice cream was with Uncle Chris- in Bournemouth before going to watch the Hannah Montana movie (again, another time he was left speechless by my choice of film/show!) and also a movie that I still watch and sing along too with Ben and Jerry's at least once a month. The excitement of waiting for your Christmas newsletter so that I could read my shout out was the most exciting part of receiving Christmas cards! Later memories include London, when we stayed in the nicest hotel and saw Matilda and Miss Saigon, we ate in the nicest restaurants, had a trip on the London Eye and celebrated the end of my GCSE's in true Uncle Chris style. The 2016 Bournemouth Marathon was the last time we saw you and I still find it funny that you nearly got beat by the men dressed as vikings in a long boat- but you didn't and you only came second to last in the end!!!!!!

When I look back at my childhood I realise that you really were one of the highlights and I'm finding it really hard to believe that you will no longer be here- no more cinema dates, no more cheering you on and no more Christmas newsletters. I will finish my a-levels in June and I won't be able to celebrate with you this time but I know you'll be encouraging me on to keep working hard.

Thank you for being such a unique exciting part of my childhood, it is a shame you will no longer be her to watch me grow but I know that you will be there somewhere watching from the finish line.
